The facilitators at the Joy Cafe` did yet another amazing job in leading the discussion of the book, “Be Joyful”. Everyone was engaged in the conversation and it was awesome to witness the transformative power of the Word of God. People were transparent about how the lesson has impacted their lives and how they have become a better representative of the Word of God. The discussions ended with prayer and everyone prepared to go into the chapel for the teaching of the Word of God.
God met each of us where we were. As the praise and worship went forth, shackles were broken, strength was renewed, anxiety dissipated, worry dwindled, and the people of God honored the Great I Am. Jairus Hardge came forth and played a medley called “Persevere”. A sound was released that pierced the atmosphere and there were a combustion and explosion of strength, hope, and serenity. It was a unique sound that pronounced the clarion call of praise and worship. He loves us-oh, how He loves us. Words uttered and there was a burst, a release, permission given, a command declared to worship the King of kings.
The sent messenger for the hour was Elder Vicki Lister. She is a woman of God who is replete with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. She has the heart of a servant and truly is a joy carrier. The main focus scriptures were Philippians 4:1-9 and Philippians 4:10-23. Elder Lister immediately reminded us to rejoice in the Lord always.
We each have a path that we must travel. Our processes of life are different and unique, yet, we must remember that no matter what comes up against us, nothing can take our joy. We have become more cognizant of the schemes and tricks of the enemy, so we will not allow the spirit of worry, fear, loss, depression, or negative thoughts to choke the life out of us or stifle our joy. We will look at our tool belt and pull out the appropriate tool to slay anything that would dare to stop or hinder the plans that God has orchestrated for each of us. We are powerful! We love God and we love His people. We are a living sacrifice, transformed and empowered by the Word of God.
Elder Lister expounded on the scriptures and we received insight and revelation from a teacher that has set before the King of kings. Regardless of what we face in life, the answer is found in the Word of God. The scriptures of the Bible must be engrafted in our hearts and we must yield to the voice of the Lord. We must have a secure mind and walk in the peace of God. Elder Lister reminded us that we are not alone and God is always with us, but it is imperative that we “buddy up” not “booed up”. We must have people around us that will keep us accountable to the Word of God. We must study and meditate on God’s Word. We have to work out the Word of God together.
As we travel this road of life, we must remember the providence of God and the unfailing power of God. Before the formation of life, God knew it and saw it. He has done things in advance. He has arranged circumstances and situations for the fulfilling of His purposes. We have access to a root system that is powerful and cannot fail against the pressures of life. As a Christian, we must make sure that we are connected to God Almighty and know that all that we need is within us. We must live according to the precepts and principles of the Word of God and God will make sure that our needs are met.
The lessons of summer joy have come to an end, but the lessons of life continue. We will continue to walk in the joy of the Lord by renewing our minds daily, surrendering to the Holy Spirit, and praying for a single, submissive, spiritual, and secure mind. We must guard our minds and not allow anything to enter that will cause us to think contrary to the written Word of the Lord. We must meditate on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. We shall put God first, others second, and then we come next.
Memory verses: Philippians 4:4; Philippians 4:6-7; Philippians 4:20; Philippians 4:23
Additional scriptures for study: Romans 8:28; Matthew 6:9-13; 2 Corinthians 10:4-5; John 15:5
Our contentment comes from the providence of God, the power of God, and the promises of God. We are the victor and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! We live in perpetual joy and peace!
