Soup and Souls Sunday & Soups and Souls Outreach Project

We have reached our goal of 10,000 cans of soups and are no longer collecting.  Thank you for your efforts New Birth and all of the sponsors and donors!

Following are our Church-Wide Outreach Initiatives:

Day 1 of Service: Saturday, February 2

We will leave from New Birth (steeple side) to go out into the community, neighborhoods and shopping areas in close proximity to the church, inviting the community to join us for our Super Bowl Sunday Worship Service experience February 3.

  • Please attend a required brief instruction session at 10:00 AM in the Chapel.  Please report for check-in at 9:30 AM.
  • Transportation will be provided to the communities.
  • Volunteers are requested to wear a New Birth t-shirt or sweatshirt. New sweatshirts are also available for purchase in our Called to Conquer Bookstore.

Day 2 of Service: Sunday, February 3 – Super Bowl Party (On Campus):

  • New Birth is hosting a Super Bowl party in honor of the homeless community. The homeless will be bused to worship service and invited to attend a party in the Family Life Center following service.
  • Volunteers who are serving as bus monitors for the 8:00 AM shelter pick up are asked to report to the Family Life Center at 7:00 AM. Bus monitors for the 11:00 AM pick up time should report at 10:00 AM. If you volunteer for setup, decorations or for the kitchen, please report to the Family Living Center at 8:00 AM.
  • All other volunteers are to report to the Family Living Center at 11:00 AM for instructions. Please be on time so we will be in place and prepared for the guests when they arrive.
  • Volunteers are requested to wear a New Birth t-shirt or sweatshirt. New sweatshirts are also available for purchase in our Called to Conquer Bookstore.

Day 2 of Service Sunday: February 3 – Super Bowl Party (Off Campus) Safe House Homeless Ministry:

  • Volunteers are invited to join the Christian Shelter Ministry for the monthly evening of service at Safe House Homeless Ministry located at 89 Ellis Street NE Atlanta, GA 30303 (downtown off of Peachtree Street between the Hard Rock Café and the Peachtree Center M.A.R.T.A. train station).
  • A worship service will be held first. Then guests will be served a hot meal afterwards.
  • Volunteer areas: greeters, ushers, intercessors, food preparation, food distribution.
  • Volunteers are to report to Safe House at 5:30pm.
  • Volunteers are asked to wear a New Birth t-shirt or sweatshirt.

**Additional Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Volunteers will be needed Wednesday and Thursday, January 30-31, to help pack the bags of soup to be distributed on February 2-3.
  • The packing will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room.
  • Volunteers can report at either 12:00 PM or 6:00 PM.
