LITHONIA, GA – Sunday, January 15

New Birth Missionary Baptist Church celebrates the life and legacy of Bishop Eddie L. Long who is now spiritually healed and home with the Lord.  Bishop Long, Senior Pastor of New Birth, transitioned from this life early Sunday morning after a gallant private fight with an aggressive form of cancer.  As a man of God with unyielding faith, Bishop Long maintained his commitment to our Heavenly Father as he proclaimed that cancer would not kill his faith nor his spirit.  First Lady Elder Vanessa Long, Bishop Long’s wife of 27 years offered the following.  “I am confident through my belief in God that my husband is now resting in a better place.  Although, his transition leaves a void for those of us who loved him dearly, we can celebrate and be happy for him, knowing he’s at peace.”

Deeply committed to his church, even in his last days, Bishop Long delivered his final message to New Birth as we ushered in 2017. He told the church that God was already working in our favor and what we have been praying for was already manifested.  In his departure, we receive that and as faithful members of New Birth, we praise God for the life of Bishop Long.

Bishop Long was known as one of the most influential faith leaders in the world.  He stood strong as a Kingdom Builder, pioneering leader, and revolutionary mind changer.  Long was a family man and spiritual leader who was well respected and loved for his passion to unapologetically and courageously preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Long inspired thousands of believers around the world through his global ministry that literally changed lives.  Through his earthly battle, Bishop Long believed that God was once again using him to help others see the power of the Holy Spirit through the love New Birth displayed to him and the countless prayers sent up by others from every corner of the earth.

Bishop Eddie L. Long was 63 years old.  He is survived by his beautiful wife, First Lady Elder Vanessa Long, 4 children Eric, Edward, Jared and Taylor and 3 grandchildren.  The Long family thanks you for your prayers, condolences and messages of love. The family appreciates your support and respect of their privacy, as they prepare along with New Birth, for the homegoing service to honor Bishop Long. The date and other details will be announced in the near future.  (**UPDATE** Services are being held January 25, 2017 at 11:00AM at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church)

I greet you in the name of our Lord and savoir Jesus Christ. I have known Bishop Long since he was known as Pastor Long. Bishop performed the funeral of our baby in April 1990 at our home. His name was Derrick Ramone Tookes. He was still born. Bishop also sent Reverend Gaither to the hospital when my son was born. Bishop never left us, he continued to pray for me and my family. For weeks he continued to come by, call and minister to us. I want to thank him for the sacrifices he made to ensure we didn’t loose hope. We went on to have another son, two years later. And so did Bishop and Elder Vanessa .Our children played ball together at Newbirth for years. Thank you Elder Vanessa for sharing him with the Newbirth family. We will forever love and cherish his legacy. I want to thank you and your family again for being a father, big brother and confidant.
    You will never be forgotten.

Thank you so much for speaking into my life on several occasions. One specific time was when my mom transitioned and I made my way to 6400 Woodrow Road, Lithonia, Ga.. I will never forget the wave of glory that hit me at the alter and you spoke directly to me. It’s hard not to mention the first time a vessel popped in my nose and you look at the camera and said’ you shall live and not die.’, and that’s just what happened. You have been a beacon of light to so many people and we will miss you so much. Hard to fine a international leader who is so humble, approachable and certainly lovable. I am ever the more thankful for the voice and gift that projected through one of the greatest Spiritual Fathers in the my journey. I love you so much and my prayers will continue for the New Birth Fam & The Lovely Elder Vanessa Long & Family.

The holy spirit fell so heavy on the house that without a word being said God was ever present. I thank God for Bishop Long’s willing heart to serve God at all times, what a true example of over coming nonsense and press toward the mark every day

Each time we came to New Birth from Florida we were showered with love and kindness by Bishop and his staff. Those of us who were truly blessed by the life and ministry of Bishop Long during his tenure as Senior Pastor of his first Church, Cedar Springs Baptist Church, in Cedartown Georgia are with heavy hearts. With the Spirit of empathy we mourn. He changed the atmosphere. I remember riding with him to speaking engagements and conversing, he was light years beyond everyone else. Mind you this was in 1986. He grew the church in ONE Sunday from 60+ members over 140. So down to earth, so approachable, so in love with His God, his Family, His frat, and His Church. Rest in paradise my covenant Brother. I will continue to stand with you until we meet at Jesus feet. love and miss you.

Our hearts are with you, his immediate family, and the entire Body of Christ under the tutelage of Bishop Eddie L. Long. I still have the first encounter I had with Bishop Long through my attendance at Megafest in 2001 in DVD form. He spoke eloquently of David and his leadership, honoring Bishop T.D. Jakes. At that time I was living in Minnesota and had no idea God would lead me to North Carolina where I became a member of New Birth Charlotte. I have been on the Prayer call since the first day!!
Now I am forever grateful for how he touch my life as a testament to the faithfulness and awesome power of God! God loves you and so do I. Rest in Peace.

My name is Meami Lampkin-Mugala & I relocated to Atlanta from Jax, FL in 1990. Being a Christian I asked around about
local Churches as I was seeking a Church home. New Birth with Bishop Eddie Long was always among the list of Church recom -mendations. I began to visit on a
    regular basis & without question
    followed this Ministry throughout
the years because it was trans- forming. I didn’t join officially because of the transportation issues that I was dealing with, but I was one of his unknown disciples. My whole family was blessed by Bishop. We attended
all of the Atlanta Mega-Fests to
hear him & the men supported
    his Men’s Conferences. My son
is Saxman III & he has played over the years with varied groups performing at New Birth. My daughter was his Spiritual grand-
daughter; who joined Rev. Landers Church because of his connection to Eddie Long. We have loved him & appreciated him & his Ministry & his Family for many years now & he will be sorely missed. Thank God he can finally rest in perfect peace! God’s Blessings to you all!

Our family has been active member of New Birth under the leadership of Bishop Eddie Long since April 1987, our lives have truly been enriched spiritually through the teaching and preach word of Almighty God through the years at New Birth we have remain a family of love, if you new or ever met him he always hug and made you feel as if you were the only person in the room and that
always made our family feel special, our Granddaughter Brittany was 6 months old when we join she grew up at NB and Bishop and First Lady Long watch her grow up and always wanted to know what was going on in her life and career, being in college and Med school in DC he would text her, Bishop Long ministry touch many families and generations personally I remember Brittany signed up for a secular dance team at HU and made it however she remember a word Bishop preached and read
in his book that stated will you serve bale or will you serve God and decided to help bring back the Liturgical dance ministry at HU and serve almighty God we are so grateful to God to remain obedience to love and pray our way through this is just one way a generation was affected by Bishop Long ministry, our family love you Bishop Long and you will always be remember your life is a true legacy we love First Lady Long and the Long family we celebrate his life together from our family to yours

I am so blessed to have found New Birth and Bishop Long in 1997, Watch Night at the Georgia Dome. YES, Bishop, “It Does Matter That YOU Were Born”. How can I say thanks for the things you have done for me, my niece, Milissa and her son, Marquez? THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! I don’t need to list personally how you were there for us, as you were for SO MANY others. How you responded to letters and notes personally; how you held us when we needed a daddy; how you one Father’s Day affirmed me as a woman from the pulpit and told me who I am in Christ and later as you greeted in the lobby, I had the opportunity to say to you, “I have something to say to you that I have NEVER said to anyone, Happy Father’s Day Daddy”…You held me close, kissed my forehead and cheek and said, “I’m so proud of you daughter”….I’ll NEVER EVER forget that moment in time and it will be in my heart FOREVER….

So many times you were there: When Milissa represented the USA Special Olympics in Charlotte, NC and in Ireland -you (New Birth) were there; When you were out of the country and Elder April informed you that Milissa was trying to reach you because her mother had passed-you asked your lovely and gracious wife, First Lady Vanessa to call our home with your condolences and to see if we needed anything; You were there when Milissa’s son, Marquez needed and wanted to attend Faith Academy…You were there when Marquez at the age of 5 gave his life to Christ and wanted you to know by jumping up in your arms at New Birth Metro Atlanta…These are just a few of the precious memories that will be with us for life…YES, IT MATTERS THAT YOU LIVED…Thank you for telling me you missed my smile at a time when you thought I wasn’t attending church…I was there just being obedient because you said, some of us sit in the same seat and we could be missing our blessings and/or the chance to be a blessing, so I started moving around (still to this day) because I heard the voice of my “daddy”…

Thank you First Lady Vanessa, for truly you are a woman walking ahead of us on this path…We Stand Strong because of the two of you and we shall make you proud! HALLELUJAH! You have WON the Victory!

We are truly Amazed By His Grace!

Peace, Joy, Love & Continued Blessings,

    Odessa L. Crenshaw
    One of you MANY daughters!

My deepest sympathy and condolences to First Lady Vanessa, the Children, Family and New Birth Family. I truly LOVED Bishop Long and his fervor for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His warrior spirit was undeniable! He taught me faith, WAR, and how to stand under the most extreme circumstances because he led by EXAMPLE! If there was one person and ministry my young daughter (at the time) followed it was Bishop and New Birth! How we will miss him! To GOD be the glory!

He always stated that if he was not a pastor he would be a comedian. You always knew when he had something silly or funny to say because he always laugh to himself before he tell us the joke.

For fifteen years, during my teen years I didn’t have a church home. I began to listen to Dr Frederick KC Price, in 1993, then I found out about New Birth from a former coworker. And I became a member in 1997. Under the leadership of Bishop Long, it has been the most important and fulfilling chapter, in both the victories and in the storms of adversity to have been a part of the New Birth family and community. Without Bishop Long and his intrepid leadership, I don’t think I would have the understanding and growth that I value. In Jesus’ name I give thanks for Bishop Long and the vision of New Birth, and may we continue.

As a member of New Birth, I learned and experienced so much. It was through New Birth, God gave me my childhood dream of going to the continent of Africa, (South Africa). My experience with Bishop Long and New Birth began just when I was entering Bible college and the beginning stages of my divorce. I prayed and asked God what church should I attend
because at that time my trust in anyone was low. I will never forget in the middle of the night, God spoke the word agape. I was just learning the word of God for myself and I did not know what agape meant. I asked God twice what agape meant and God said on the third time, “Agape, Eddie Long, New Birth.” I went to work the next day where I worked on a mental health floor and I was asking my co-worker what agape meant, but before he could answer a patient said, “I know what it means, unconditional love. My respect for Bishop will never go away and more so my love for him. Because I am one with a past and partial present tore up from the floor up, I appreciate this phrase more and more the longer I live, “I did the things they said I did, but I am not what they say I am.” Rest IN Peace Bishop and Watch This.

R.I.P my pastor, Bishop! In 2003 I joined Newbirth thought the guidance of my grandfather in a dream. Since I been a member God has used you to read my video. Each Sunday I received a Devine word from God through you! I had thyroid disease and you didn’t know it, but this one particular Sunday as you came down off the pulpit. I will never forget it. You rubbed my three son’s head and walking by; then you backed up and you laid your hands on me. I felted the power of God healed me. The next day I had to go do my biopsy and go back and see the doctor one week later. When I went back to schedule the Surgery the doctor came in and said Miss Staley your thyroid are playing a tricks you don’t have thyroid disease. I been healed every since. Bishop is truly a man of God. He spoke healing not just over me but over my whole family. As I join in to continue to live out the legecy you left for us. My heart hurts because I will not hear your voice physically, but your voice will ever shine through the legacy of the mission God gave you for us your children. It has truly been a honor to have sit under your minister. When IGod send me there he told me he knew I know how to dance and pray him, but he wanted me to get the word that will keep me going. Guess what that what I have received. Job well done Bishop Eddie Long. You have touch so many souls I’m just glad I among those you have raised. I will miss you dearly, but I know you are in a better place. Plus if you had the opportunity to come back as much as you loved your church. You would not trade the peace you have received over in Paradise. Rest on Bishop see you one day!!

I along with my family will truly miss Bishop Long! If you were not a member of New Birth under his awesome leadership, you will never understand the members pain right now! Bishop delivered everything he had to give us from God, sometimes to the point of exhaustion! Bishop loved us and never distanced himself from us. I can remember when he would jump off the pulpit and come into the aisle to preach the word of God. One of my favorite moments was when he would place his reading glasses on the top of his head, get dEep into the sermon and say his favorite quote,”WATCH THIS, WATCH THIS.” May God give First Lady Elder Vanessa Long, the children and the grandchildren the peace that they will need during this time of sadness.

I came to New Birth in July of 1993 and have been here constantly; Bishop Long’s obedience to God and the way he always found a fresh way to share the Gospel has inspired me. My youngest daughter was 12 years old, when we relocated to Georgia. Bishop Long’s ministry helped her to become the wonderful woman she is now. We both grew and became life-long members of New Birth starting in July 1994. It was at that moment I have felt purpose and determination to make my life an example my children’s children and know that “it matters that I was born”. To the Long Family, I thank you for sharing your Husband, Father, and Friend with me. He taught me that life is not about religion but relationship and my life has NEVER been the same since my encounter with God’s Messenger — Apostle Eddie Long. There are so many incredible things to say about Bishop Long. As a new Christian, my faith was firmly established at New Birth. Every Sunday, Bishop would preach the (exact) same thing I had studied throughout the week. I was not following a biblical curriculum at the time. I studied whatever the Lord led me to study and every Sunday, consistently, Bishop would preach on it. I was baffled for months. Then, one Sunday, Bishop confirmed that was actually the correct order of things. He said when we come to church on Sunday, he should just be confirming what we have already been studying all week.
I was a young, struggling, single parent when I joined New Birth. I had been “looking for love in all the wrong places” and it left me empty and trapped. Bishop called out my true identity in accordance with the Word of God. It erased every lie and reversed every curse the enemy had planned for me and my babies. My life, my circumstances and my legacy all changed under this Great Man of God’s excellent teaching and pastoral care.
Bishop was a precious champion. A true warrior. The best spiritual daddy. He loved, he lived and he led like Christ. Thank you Bishop for your sacrificial living and teaching. We will strive to model your excellent demonstration of Christ in the earth the remainder of our days. We love you.
Our prayers are with you First Lady Elder Vanessa Long and the Long family.

I also carry with me to this day your lessons on the value of being a wise woman vs being smart woman….how Eve was the first to identify the serpent as the deceiver…and the list goes on and on. The lessons I hated most were those about allowing God to stretch us…which led me to taking a break from the church and marrying someone who hated you. Guess what??? i learned to allow the STRETCHING and I LOVE IT!!! Because of my love and consistent and undying support of you and my New Birth Family, my spouse and I were often at odds and eventually he walked away…THE BEST THING THAT EVER COULD HAVE HAPPENED; NOW I live the life that you ALWAYS said GOD promised 16 years later and I LOVE it!!! Now all those (archived) messages that I missed for the past 16 years will be my bread and water. I resumed paying my tithes for the past TWO years and never once regretted it. This NEW life (NEW Birth) is wonderful and amazing. I’m living my dream, God’s VISION and walking in my DESTINY. You have joined my heavenly entourage of interceding saints and I am truly grateful. Rest well pastor and I will see you on the other side.

Bishop was truly called to the people. He was the peoples Bishop. Watching him on television over the years, you could feel the anointing coming through the screen. I was so blessed to come to Georgia and be in service with him and again felt the anointing and witnessed both he and his wife financially bless some of the families in the audience. He was a giver and a lover of People. I wasn’t a member of his church but I was connected through the Body of Christ. My heart goes out to his beautiful wife Elder Vanessa Long and to his children, New Birth Church Family and All who love him! I’ll see you on the other side!

Bishop Eddie L Long, you have been my spiritual father since the days on Snapfinger road in the little chapel. My husband Tim and I were married at New Birth, my youngest son Samuel was christened at New Birth and both my sons Sam and Tim Jr accepted Christ at New Birth. My spiritual growth developed through the words God spoke through you and I am forever grateful. Your legacy lives on in us and we are blessed to be a part of the New Birth Family. Elder Long and the entire Long family, what a blessing you are to the kingdom of God. We stand with you and we shall continue legacy. We are New Birth! We love you Bishop but God loved you more. When God led me to New Birth I was on the verge of giving up, I had been wounded by so many Pastors and leaders. I was carrying so much hurt and pain and rejection and embarrassment and just an attitude of over all failure, I wanted to end it all One day while riding the bus home from work, I clearly heard the Lord say to me go to New Birth and I can honestly and truly say that my life has never been the same. When I obeyed God and went to New Birth all of these things I got healed and delivered from. No matter what I faced, when I walked in New Birth God used Bishop Long so greatly that sometimes I literally went home and searched my house and closets to make sure that there were no cameras from New Birth, Going to miss your teachings so much Bishop, Thank God for DVD’s and CD’s.

I am honored and thankful to have had Bishop Long as my pastor. I grew spiritually under his leadership as he challenged us to be better, do better, while showing us God wants us whole and not just healed. Also, in seeing/hearing the New Birth Elders deliver the word on Sundays and leading the prayer sessions on Saturdays, I realize how much they walk in the same spirit as Bishop Long, sharing his vision for New Birth. No doubt he had a great impact in the lives of many. Bishop Long I will miss you greatly.

Like so many people Bishop Long touched my life, At my darkest hour, he gave comfort, hope and courage through God’s word. I have fond memories of his leadership when New Birth was on Snapfinger. We didn’t have much, but a few dedicated souls who would come in on Saturday to help clean and prepare the church for Sunday service. He would jokingly say Sister Vanessa Long made him the man he would become, polyester suits and all, My prayers are with the members who have lost our shepherd, his family and the countless people around the world he touched. I am sure, Bishop heard, “well done, thy good and faithful Servant.”.

First, I would like to express our deepest sympathy to you, Elder Vanessa, and your children Eric, Edward, Jared and Taylor. We know the heartache you must have and the void you must feel in the loss of your husband and father. I thank and appreciate all of you for allowing Bishop to soar to the spiritual heights and dimensions he has laid open before us. We thank you for allowing him time to pour into each one of us through his presence and teachings. My husband, Elder Cunningham, and I miss him more than words can express. We grew so much in the faith under his tutelage over the almost 30 years we have served at New Birth. We are forever indebted to him for hearing and answering the Clarion call of God to go out with all boldness to preach the gospel to the world. The energy he displayed, the zeal, passion, authority and order in which he presented the word of God; the love he shared with us his church family, was inexplicable to those who watched from afar. He had the ability to hear from God and speak to each of us encouragement in diverse situations, hope for the future, and a peace that reassured us that all would be well. Bishop has laid out for us such an awesome foundation for the road to victory and living life by kingdom principles. Bishop ran the race and finished strong. He demonstrated how, in spite of adversities, challenges and tribulations, to walk with head held high knowing that only God is the author and finisher of our faith. God knew Bishop’s end from the very beginning. God ordered his steps, gave him the words to speak, and anointed and graced him to complete his assignment. God gave Bishop the vision which he wrote, walked in and preached with such profundity that all who “caught” it could run with it. Bishop was the keeper of a flock that spread over continents. Bishop was a man of such finesse, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. He was a man whose will was first to please God. A man who may have seemed small in stature but who became huge in the eyes of man. What a legacy he leaves behind! What a challenge he left for us. He has set the foundation and the bar on which we are to build – line upon line, precept upon precept. Bless you Bishop Long for the love you showed us and for all that you were. God keep you Elder Vanessa. Hold fast to the faith. Know that you were the wind beneath his wings. Much love to you and the children.

How does one say thank you for the last 20 years? It was then that encountered Pastor Eddie Lee Long (affectionately called “Daddy”) preaching like a wildman on Snapfinger Rd. My life was to never be the same again. I thank Bishop for exposing and teaching me about The Kingdom. New Birth became home for me with the blessing of my father; the late Rev. R. H. Slaughter. It would actually be there in New birth during an early morning prayer service that I received the news of my father’s passing on August 8, 2014. Bishop Long spoke, “Welcome to your New Beginning!” Less than a year later, I accepted my call to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ! My life will never be the same again. I thank GOD for Bishop Eddie Lee Long; for GOD used him to impact my bloodline and generations yet unborn will reap the benefits of all that I gleamed while sitting at his feet. Bishop Long has gone to glory although missed here on earth but he is with Jesus right now with his glorious crown.
I first caught glimpse of him in United Kingdom in one of our Church Seminar, He expanded the scripture Galatian 4: 19 “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,….” Suddenly you can feel the anointing of the Holy Ghost in that service and for the next 8 years or more he’s been a blessing to us.
I pray the Holy Spirit of God step into those voids he left and by the His grace his family and New Birth Church will move to a new level of glory in Jesus Mighty name. Amen

In 2001, my life was forever changed by the ministry of Apostle/Bishop Eddie Long. I had never heard of New Birth and at that time .I was facing a series of horrible situations that had almost taken my life. The following Sunday morning, I was driving and did not know where I was going and had seen a long line of traffic and I said to myself, “they must going somewhere special!” and I got in the line. When I arrived,I was amazed at to what I saw. I felt the power and the anointing of God soo strong. I saw all those people and I went into the sanctuary still in awe. All of a sudden, I began to hear God’s voice through the voice of Bishop Long. I met God there at New Birth. Through Bishop Long’s obedince, I was being healed and delivered and was well-received by the ministry. Thank you God for the life and ministry of Bishop Long! Thank you First Lady Elder Vanessa for standing and for gracing us with your love and presence. To the children/young adults, thank you for sharing your father! I am sure that was not easy but know that we are forever grateful! We are love you and will continue to pray for you all!

My sympathy and prayers will continue to go out to the Family and the New Birth Family. In regards to our lost. A man that inspired many, some he Knew by face and others through faith. I learned that although he may not know me by face its the spirit that was in that man, that housed the vessel. I knew Bishop Long from the sound that bellowed through the lungs and tunnels of heaven released in the earth realm for many to hear the calling and mandate of the creator. With that came great challenges. I speak to New Birth to encourage them my Family in Christ that its not over because the Flame Still burns. Increase and fortify the grounds with prayer and fasting. Your true leader has not died but is reborn. As the book of Acts say, they heard a sound of a mighty rushing wind. The wind is present as we speak…

Bishop Long’s works and love for his congregation and the body of Christ cannot be denied. He was not perfect, as none of us are. Wow!! Where do I start? I admired Bishop Long. I love him and I appreciate how he cared about people. I loved his sense of humor. I loved his presence and the Word of God that he allowed to flow through him to feed God’s people. He taught us about “NOW.” Having that God moment NOW. Not to wait until… But NOW, and the next NOW and the next NOW. Progression in Christ. He taught us how to forgive, to serve and to lead. Christ in us. Often Bishop would preach and as he was preaching God would be speaking to him. He was still “getting it” and learning with us. Powerful ministry, powerful, wonderful man. I love you Bishop. Thank you for caring about our health enough to bring people and resources to us to help us live better and healthier lifestyles. I could go on, but it would take way too long to express everything. Beautiful man of God. You are loved. My thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful, loyal wife and his loyal children. Thank you Elder Vanessa Long for being a faithful caregiver to the end to your husband and to the man we know as the honorable Bishop Eddie L. Long. May God regenerate, restore, and revive you mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually with each passing moment.

    Hi New Birth Family,
I love and miss my Spiritual Father as we all do. I’m so glad God allowed me and my entire family to meet such an awesome human being. I joined New Birth in 1990, after hearing about a man that God had his hand on and how he was making an impact on so many peoples lives. So I visited and been here every since. I’ve seen, and been apart of everything our Bishop introduced us to and I don’t regret one moment of it. I pray that we who remain will pick up his mantle put it on and prophesy with power. We Love you Elder Vanessa Long and your entire Family. Bishop you are truly missed but God loves you more. Thank you for a job well done! Ephesians 6:10

Bishop Long has been a true teacher and Spiritual Father. I moved to Atlanta in 2006 as a widow lost and seeking guidance. I found myself living 5 miles from New Birth MBC. I attended the church every time the doors opened. Bishop Long spoke to my broken heart and helped me to grow and gain the strength I needed to move forward. He taught me to trust God and to develop a personal relationship with God. I found myself living again. He will truly be missed. I thank God for the blessing of developing under his leadership.

Before I had established a place to live in Atlanta upon relocation in 2006, I was certain of my church and my pastor. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine myself living in Atlanta, working at CDC or becoming a member of New Birth and having the up close opportunity to be touched by the man whom I admired via BET on Friday mornings at 6 am while attending Grambling State University. Bishop Long was larger than life to the masses, but for us, he was a father, a friend, the teacher of all teachers and a gladiator of leaders who taught us to stand…by standing. I will never be the same because Bishop spoke life and hope into me like no other. He was a limitless example of fortitude and Godly surrender. He showed us his vulnerability and in every step and with every breath, he taught us to move forward in God. While I miss him and mourn this immense loss, I look forward to what lies ahead for my New Birth family. We shall pick up the mantle, put it on and prophesy! I am fully persuaded that when our Bishop departed this life, he went empty; after giving everything he had. Mrs. Vanessa Long, my love for you will never fade. To his beloved children, grandchildren, brothers and family, I extend my deepest condolences and fervent prayers of strength and healing to you all. Because of Bishop Eddie Lee Long, I’m a better, affirmed, more fulfilled ME. Thank God for his life and legacy. I had the gift of being a part of both.

My girls and I already miss Bishop Eddie L. Long dearly and still can’t believe that he is gone… And even as I write this, I’m realizing that he isn’t really gone at all, but he has transitioned into a higher dimension with our Heavenly Father… And as the Word says… “To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord”… Memories of him, precious moments, his teachings, and the love that he has shown to all of us, will forever live in our hearts…. I remember the first time I came to New Birth over ten years ago, Bishop spoke a word over my life that called me out of a dead situation and completely captivated me… And since then, every word spoken out of that pulpit has been just for me … Bishop Long has made a profound impact on my life and he will forever be missed, cherished and loved….

God bless Bishop Eddie Long and Elder Vanessa Long for their empowerment in the body of Christ. Also god bless their children and their church members. As you celebrate the life of bishop just know that many are the afflictions of the righteous but the lord will deliver us from them all. God has bishop in paradise and he is resting. As god sent Joshua as a predecessor after Moses, he will raise up a leader to lead the members of New Birth. Know that you all are a Joshua generation. He will take you all across the Jordan spiritually. You all are in continually in my prayers that you will be a vessel of honor fit for the masters use. Bishop did enormous things for the body of Christ, and I thank God for him and his lovely wife along with the spiritual leaders, their children, and the members for all that you do. Know that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. Always remember this parable. A master threw a break at each of his laborers. The first laborer threw the brick back and injured his master, and this laborer lost his job. The second laborer stop building and walked out the job. The third laborer took the bricks that were thrown at him each day and built a castle. The third laborer ended up inheriting the masters kingdom. New Birth, I encourage you all to continue walking in the love of god. You owe no one nothing but to walk toward those that are with or without Christ in love. God bless you all.

When I joined New Birth there were only 300 members and two rows of pews. Rev. Long (at the time) had only been there six months. Attending New Birth changed my life forever. It was at New Birth that I truly found Christ and my life changed for the better. God spoke to me so many times through Bishop Long. I would pray and study and hear God telling me something all week and than come to church on Sunday or Wednesday and Bishop Long would confirm exactly whatever God had been saying to me through his sermon. It was a miracle! I thank Bishop Long for being obedient to God when preaching the things that God placed in his heart. Because he was obedient, he changed and touched so many lives. One of Bishop Longs sermons confirmed to me that I was supposed to attend graduate school. It was something that I knew, but was confirmed during a Bible study lesson. I went to graduate school where I met my husband. We attended premarital counseling at New Birth and it was life changing. It was the best premarital counseling we could have ever had. We were so blessed by it. We are still happily married 10 years this year with two wonderful children. Although I changed church membership after my marriage, the messages that I received from God through Bishop Long stay with me, and will forever. Rest in Peace Bishop Long and thank you for the positive and life-changing impact you had on my life.

Today Bishop Long is experiencing the New Birth. On this side of eternity in the land of the dying we are moving towards the land of the land of the living. Bishop is with the person whom he has come to know. It is easy to talk about God but it is another to know God. Many people can speculate on many fronts, yet I hear God say he is my child. IF humans were capable of saving themselves we would not have needed Jesus. So, we will fall but in the falling we experience our Father’s grace, mercy and love. You cannot talk about someone whom you know nothing about. To his family I thank you for living the words of our Father. Families represent what God intended, for us to stand together in spite of all odds. Our Father, used New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and the Long Family to show us His people what the church is all about. A family of individuals who forgive and press forward knowing that it is only by the grace of God that we are who we are. If we want to be like Christ, look at how the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and the Long family persevered. Thank you Father for showing us through Bishop Long, his family and New Birth how we are to treat one another. May this nation. a Christian nation , see your redemptive work in each of your children. I know that you, Father, will keep your word and you are faithful and true. So, encourage the New Birth Family, the Long family doing this hour and let them know you are with them. To this nation, may we each ponder the reality that we too must meet you one day. May our brother’s death give you glory and honor. It isn’t how long we live it but it is how we lived while on this earth that matters. You see we can’t lose. In Jesus, we live and breathe and to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I am persuaded that all is well.It is ,well.,.It is well..,It is well with his soul. Keep the faith and finish the race that lies before us…..sol we can hear our Father tell us well done, well done my good and faithful servant….

I celebrate, pay tribute and give thanks for being a part of this legacy of this great man of God Apostle, Bishop, and Pastor Eddie Long for all the love he showed me as a member Of New Birth and a father in the gospel. I moved to Lithonia Ga,in 2003 and i was invited by some family members to attend a service and to my surprise i was sitting there listening to Bishop preach an the Lord spoke to me and said i want you to join this ministry i said Lord i’m already an apostle and pastor and you want me to join this church i said Lord i thought you sent me here to start another church mind you i already had a church in Dover Delaware i said Lord they don”t they don’t need me here he said i want you to watch Bishop Long and the order of this church because i”m giving you a billion dollar ministry, God said you have never lead 300, 500 or 1,000 people at one time and i want you to no what it is to lead a mega church at the time it was over 25,000 people in New Birth and because i obeyed God i learned more than just being a pastor through my Bishop and the administration in this church i still remain a member at New Birth although i moved back to Delaware and have 2 more churches there i also join The Fathers House Ministry in 2004 their was a Spirit and Truth Conference and at the end of the seminar Bishop Long called all the ministers to the stage and he hugged everybody and he said daughter will i see you at the retreat i said by faith i”m going to try and he said what would stop you fro being there money i said yes he said well you are going and he told the young man who was standing with him get her information i”m taking care of her and her husband room then he said do you have money to get there i said yes i”ll see you there. When i got there he embraced me and my husband with a hug and said he loved us and every time i saw him he said daughter you alright he said think big because God”s got greatness in you and he”s making you great i will forever be grateful to my dad, and will continue to be a member of New Birth. My Condolences go to Vanessa and the Long family. Praying for strength and comfort. No more pain the journey is over and boy did he have a journey, he touched so many live and he truly wore his footprints well
I joined Newbirth in 2007, Bishop was definitely a warrior and fighter. I watch him stand through he darkest hour of his life he never gave up , he always said when you have a dream stand on it, believe and trust in God. I remember when he first started the pray call, and it was awesome. When he teaches it seem like he was talking about you and only you, I use to say how does he know is he watching me but it was just confirmation from God letting me know that his word was real. Thank you Bishop for being such a inspirational Leader, teacher and just being the gift of life to many people at thear weakest hour, who will Lead the marches now, because when it was not right you got the flock together and marched to centennial park, when it was a shoot out you marched. You really don’t know the Legacy that you left in so many people lufe. Thank you God for using this man to be the King he was he wore his crown well. RIP Bishop Eddie Long! You will truly be missed, but I do have my messages that I can listen to, to keep my spirit fed.

Bishop Eddie Long you will be truly missed. My prayers go out to Elder Vanessa Long and the entire Long Family. As a PGK, I can truly say that I had been lost in my spiritual walk for years. I joined the college ministries at Clark Atlanta University in 1999, I visited several churches but God kept leading me back to New Birth. I became a member of New Birth in 1999. I’ve had an amazing spiritual journey at New Birth while being under the leadership of Bishop Eddie Long. I would have thought Bishop was a fly on the wall that followed me everywhere I went but I knew that during his sermons it was God speaking to me through Bishop. With the recent loss of my mother and now my spiritual leader, I have to admit I am feeling some kind of way. I will continue to pray for peace and understanding. Bishop Eddie Long you will be forever missed but never forgotten.

Bishop Long was an amazing man of God. In 1994, I attended service with a friend and my spirit man was blessed. On that day, I decided he was my Bishop. After returning to California that week, I began to watch Taking Authority continuing to be blessed. Years later, I moved to Georgia and the only church that I have attended is NB. Bishop Long has truly blessed many through his obedience to God. My heart is sadden but God decided his work is done here. Lady Vanessa Long and family hold your head high and know that your family has touch and blessed so many. Your contributions to the body of Christ cannot be erased. May God continue to bless and cover you. My family and I will always love and keep you in our prayers. Thank you for sharing Bishop Long with the world.

In The summer of 1991, I was looking for a church home. I’d been in Atlanta since the summer of 1989 and my spirit was getting restless because I was brought up and being in church was just as natural as breathing. I was invited to the church in 1991 by a faithful member Miss Naomi Andrews, her introduction to me was so strong and reassuring as she told me about the Lord and that I needed to come to hear her Pastor, a young preacher and that my life would certainly be changed. I followed her advice. When I arrived the small but very humble church there were what seemed like at least a hundred or more people waiting to get inside the church. As I got closer you could feel the anticipation of the crowd and through the church doors the Holy Spirit felt like He wanted to burst out into the crowd. The people were so happy and singing and they were so nice, I never had seen anything like this before in any church and I was thirty years old at that time and had been going to church all my life. When they opened the doors to the church, the fullness of the Holy Spirit hit us. I immediately began crying and was so full with joy, the music was going and the men’s choir was singing, lead by none other than, whom we know now as the Prince of Praise, Byron Cage. They sang and congregation leaped and praised while the song ended and the choir took their seats. As we waited for the then Pastor Long to come to the microphone, the crowd still excited and even more excited the closer he got I did not know what to expect. When he began to speak a calm came over me, and I heard the Spirit say, “You are home now”. I was so relieved and happy listening to every word this young, very wise beyond his years Preacher said. That first sermon did change my life and to his credit even to this New Years Apostle Eddie Long’s sermons have been nothing more than ever growing, ever knowing and ever changing in my life at New Birth. Always the strong, caring, funny, intelligent, fiery, captivating, truthful, prolific, insightful, courageous, inspirational, dynamic, humble, loving, faithful, powerful influential leader of God’s people. I will miss so much words cannot describe. In my heart I know our loss is Heaven’s gain but that does not take away the pain of not hearing your call to order voice on this earth any longer. I bid you so long fora little while, because we will see each other again. No one can know but God the father he gave to me in you as my own birth father did not step up to the plate. Your wisdom and sharing words in so many trying times gave so much comfort and alternatives to solutions I would have taken that may not have ended out so well for me. I love you and your family, but God loves you more. Take your rest, but we know you are still here in spirit., because “You are home now”, Thy Good and Faithful Servant! Love and miss you always. Your Daughter in Christ, Dianna!

Bishop Long, you have touched the lives of many (known and unknown). You and New Birth were introduced to me by God 10 years ago while surfing channels one Sunday morning. I know this was God led, because I asked Him to lead me to a church where the pastor knew how to teach the Word, I can retain the Word from his teaching, and where I can grow from his teachings. I have never personally met you or attended church at New Birth, but was touched spiritually in Winter Haven, FL. I will miss you and your teaching. Words cannot express how much you were loved in my home!!

First Lady, you are a wonderful woman of God (ELECT LADY)!!! I love you as my spiritual mom. May God keep His strength and coverage of you and your family during this trying time.

First giving honor to God, His Son Jesus and the precious Holy Ghost. I am grateful to God for allowing me to be a part of the New Birth Family. Bishop Long, the 1st family and New Birth showed me and my family love after we evacuated New Orleans in 2005 because of Hurricane Katrina and arrived in GA.

We had never been to New Birth but Bishop Long called us to the alter and prayed for us. The media was portraying us as refugees and criminals. New Birth fed us for days, provided us with toiletries, healthcare services and personal shoppers that picked articles of clothes for each of us, showed them to us and if we liked them they were placed in beautiful bags and given to us. I had never experienced love from a ministry on this level (and I was raised in the church).

I will ALWAYS love Bishop Long for allowing God to continually use him in a MIGHTY way. Bishop, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. Now there is in store for you the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to you on that day. I miss you!!!

I’m utterly grief stricken over the loss of our beloved Bishop. I will miss him forever and I’m so thankful for each seed he ever planted in my life because they all blossomed. Instead of 228 comments on this site there should be no less than 228,000 considering all of the lives he has touched and blessed. I joined NBMBC on Snapfinger Rd. in 1995 and never looked back. I’ve seen Bishop Eddie Long pay off credit card debt, purchase numerous automobiles, pay rent and mortgages, purchase groceries and gas, call out single mothers and ask the congregation to seed into her life and she leave NBMBC with thousands in love offering. He did this often and quietly. This is what I saw, I’m sure he has blessed hundreds more that only Jesus knows. May he rest easy because he certainly served mankind and NBMBC well.

To First Lady Elder Vanessa Long to my New Birth Family I send my condolences and sympathy for the passing of a great man and leader in the Dekalb county and throughout the U.S. my spiritual love never wavered for our pastor God had a ordained annointment on our church because of of ministerial staff and church body I appreciated having the opportunity to walking with our pastor through the early days of New Birth and to be privileged to be a part of the awesomeness of our praise and worship team which galvanized members to not only uplift the community but to uplift our friend mentor pastor and colleagues to the greater heights of God’s will for our church for which God chose bishop long as a vessel of vision for without a vision there is no victory and so as bishop long completed his task given so vigorously with hard work and perseverance dispute the attack on ones life he over came and I said it is well in my soul. When the devil thought he was defeated bishop long came back to New Birth because of his commitment after his battle to stand on the promises of the Lord that the devil did not defeat him so new birth missionary Baptist church to stand tall during 2017 and moving forward.

Bishop Long has completed the task of Gods will let us rejoice and be glad for he is with the Lord thru his grace and mercy I thank you

I thank the Lord for Bishop Long, Since my move to Georgia this is the 2nd large church I have attended and the First Church whereby the Senior Pastor really shows the love for his flock. Bishop Long has since I’ve been here given me the application of the word like no other. I know i’ve been in bible believing churches over the years, but as for me when i got the application of what I’ve heard over the years has meant more to me than anything else in the world. My Bishop was truly a man of God that loved the Word as well as loved the People of God. Rest in Our Father Bishop. Thanks for speaking so much life into my Life. Sister Vanessa thank you for sharing him with us. Praying for you and your Family.. I send my sincere condolences to First Lady Vanessa long, to the Family and my New Birth Family. I started going to new birth in 2010 and was introduced to the new Birth family and Bishop Long. I was living in GA for a while then I had to move to South Carolina. Due to my move I was not able to attend as often as would of like to. I felt a strong connection to New Birth and I new Bishop was shepherd. I watched service on live stream and called in to the international prayer call daily. The services and prayer call line was a blessing to my life and help me to push on every day, any time I felt down when I heard the word from pastor my spirit was lifted up. I was always excited and blessed when I heard Bishops voice Say GOOD MORNING, GOOD MORNING, GOOD MORNING, AND WATCH THIS!! WATCH THIS!!, THESE WILL FOREVER Resonate with me. I was truly blessed by bishops words and hes messages truly changed my life. He is truly an anointed man of God and heard straight from God. Pastor Long Changed and touched many people lives all over the world. He was my role model and was my spiritual farther, mentor and Bishop. He was a humble, caring, selfless, funny, joyful, and a giving individual. Bishop will truly be missed, Bishop did not let his condition control is spirit or faith, instead he stood tall and fought the fight. He has completed his work here and a great example he has been. God is saying well done my faithful servant we can rejoice because he is with the LORD. The Anointing of God is in New Birth and we shall move forward and fulfill Bishop Longs and Gods Mission. We are praying for you, may Gods peace and love cover you.

I believe that none of the current successes I experience right now in my life would have been possible if it wasn’t for the guidance of Bishop Eddie Long who introduced me to God for myself. I know for a fact that Bishop Eddie Long birthed many Sons and daughters of God. He was my first Spiritual Father and the only father to instill principle and values into me. Listening to Bishop brought me through some trying times in my life when I wanted to let go and throw in the towel. It still amazes me how Just listening to the Lord speak through him makes my life worth living. Through him, I was able to grab on to Hope, Faith, and Patience. Under him, my life did a complete 360 shift. There were times when I thought I was really losing my mind for real, but that was God positioning me for Greater and Better. Bishop always called me to come up higher to a place he would show me. And show me he did. Jesus did not come to bring peace; he came to bring a sword which is the word of God our only true weapon against principalities and powers of darkness in high places…

Bishop Long was my leader for 19 years, during those years, I must say that my faith in God greatly improved. I pray for his leadership and his personal contribution to the God, the Church and the community. I send my prayers out to his family during this time, knowing that God does not make mistakes, all of us had a time to be born and a time to die. I am grateful to God who allowed me to attend the 2017 watch night services to see and hear my Bishop for the last time. I have something to hold on to and to continue to live by.

I send my warmest sympathy to the entire Long family. I joined Newbirth over twenty years ago. Pastor Long was preaching dynamic and powerful messages on the Authority of the Word of God and our Kingdom Authority. No, he was not the first to teach on Authority, but he was able to teach and instruct with today’s relevancy, those divine concepts. It is impossible to comprehend how much he impacted the Body of Christ world-wide. I’ve read the notes of many saying,”Rest in Peace”. Peace is on earth, but Glory is in heaven. Bishop, I believe you are enjoying the Glory of God and conversing with all the other billions of Saints that have gone on before us. I believe you did transition empty, you finished the course, and you kept the faith. Cheer us on to complete what you began; the vision that you gave us to turn it into a reality! I love you Bishop, you paid a heavy price, Thank you to the entire Long family, especially Mrs. Long, for your sacrifice and grace. Pat Harris

Remembering Bishop Long in a message he gave some years back, in which he stated some of you are constipated, then said no, some of you are really constipated. I laughed for it sounded comical, but I knew he was serious and was telling the truth. This was a turning point in how I viewed my health. During this time Bishop was bringing several health initiatives and events before New Birth, to challenge and help us live better, and longer lives. Bishop’s passion to make us more aware of taking care of our bodies, caused me to look closer at my health. I took iron pills and vitamins for years, to give me enery and help with anemia. But God told me that if I eat right, exercise, and get the proper rest I wouldn’t have to take them. After this New Birth went on a Daniel Fast, in which I participated. It was with this fast, I sought out fruits and vegetables that will be good for my energy level. Today I no longer have to take those supplements because I now eat foods that provide the nutrients I need. I now use non- salt alternatives because of the many times Bishop spoke on high blood pressure in our community. OveraIl, my health and how I view it is much better since Bishop raised my awareness in taking
better care of it. I thank God for having experienced his prophetic voice and his desire for us to be who God designed us to be.

I have had a very difficult time processing this. I know that our Bishop is in a better place and in no pain. Bishop has been a spiritual father to me for the past 21 years, and much of who I am as an adult woman, God spoke to me though the words of our Pastor. I only have a relationship with my actual father because of the Word God sent one Father’s Day over on Snapfinger Road though Bishop! I have so many lessons on cassette tapes, CD’s and DVD’s of what Bishop taught over the years! How masterful he was with the Word and making it relevant! He was truly an Apostle and what a valiant servant of God he was! Bishop taught me how to be in relationship with Christ. He taught me so many lessons about who God has called me to be, and whenever I had any doubts, fears, or questions, God sent a word through our Bishop. So, rest now, in peace, our beloved Pastor. Your strength, guidance, and absolute love of Christ will be missed as well as all of your prophetic utterances! My sincerest condolences to the Long Family and to our church family.

The ministry of Bishop Eddie L. Long and New Birth changed my life back in December 2004. I was new to the Atlanta area, at the age of 19, and a good friend brought me to New Birth with him, and the sermon that Bishop Long gave that Sunday alone, changed my life, my heart, and my direction.

I may have only stayed for 2 1/2 years due to having to relocate, but I never forgot! I never forgot the wonderful man of God who changed my life. I am thankful for his life, and even in the midst of adversity, he taught me how to be strong, how to be prayerful, how to have faith, how to forgive and how to live through it!

Thank you Bishop Long for your faithfulness to the Body of Christ. Nobody, not one man on this earth, can’t take away the gift that God gave to you. The gift to change lives! That’s the man that I remember today! I’m not a fan, but I’m a follower. God called you, you listened, and you stretched your purpose to help others. Your strength was marvelous. Many people want to reflect on the “perceived negative” – but I choose to reflect on the man that got me through many tough nights with his messages. You are finally home, covered solely by the love of our wonderful FATHER in Heaven. Forever Our Bishop!

Through your ministry I also got to meet another man of God, Bishop William Murphy, whose music got me through the death of my very own father in 2000! Your strength and encouragement was all around! Watch This….

To the Long Family and the New Birth Family – thank you for sharing Bishop Long with the world! #JoyComesInTheMorning, so no worries, cry today in celebration of this wonderful life! Home Free – in the place that we all long to be – in the arms of our loving Father! #SeeYouAtTheRapture, #LongOUT, #MyNEWBIRTHbeganatNEWBIRTH

Bishop Eddie Lee Long was an amazing Man Of God. The way he preached Gods word was electrifying. He ALWAYS left me feeling spiritually full, and when there was guest speakers, he put His best in his place! He was funny at times with his sermons with the famous words “Watch This, and Let me tell you something.” Bishop has not only touched our hearts at New Birth… But THE ENTIRE WORLD!!! He did what he was called to do for The Lord which he did so very well even up until The Father said He needed His son. Bishop baptized my oldest daughter so many years ago and when I went into the church for the first time, I was already thrown back by all the love and comfort and it blew me away. No other church has made me feel so at home! I have been going to New Birth for 11 yrs and I will continue as I am now a member. My spiritual Father is resting with My Heavenly Father and I can’t think of a greater place to be than in the presence of The Lord! You made it Bishop, you got your wings. I will see you again! “How do you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume…it isn’t easy but I’ll try…A *preacher who taught me right from wrong and weak from strong–that’s a lot to learn* what can I give you in return?”: TO BISHOP, WITH LOVE. There’s so much I want to say about the man who stood in that pulpit and issues my life-saving word but my heart is sooooo heavy–not for Bishop but those left behind to live on this earth without his physical presence. But I saw a recent sermon where he told the devil that “When I leave that’s not the end of me because I left behind four children and a congregation who have me in them and they’ll do damage to the kingdom of darkness.” And he is so right because I am one of the legions. I am in NY now, preparing to take my show to Broadway but whatever platform I find myself I will ALWAYS carry my Bishop with me…and my 26 year old son too. I wish I could be there to pay HONOR WHERE IT IS DUE, but I take comfort in knowing that my son will be representing for both. He wanted a chance to tell Bishop personally, [THANK YOU FLYING ME & MY FRIEND TO THE YOUTH CONFERENCE IN 2007. ..FIRST CLASS! THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING US WITH HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS & ALL THE OTHER ASSISTANCE. TOO BAD SOME GOT GREEDY. YOU ALWAYS HELP ME & MOM AFTER MY DAD WAS KILLED. THANK YOU BISHOP. KENNETH BAUGH].

I am a former member of New Birth and I was able to witness how much he cared for the people. I’ve witnessed the power of God move through the service and Bishop would yield and change directions in order to give those in attendance what they needed. I was witnessed the membership giving single mothers cars, I was there when we started strategic plans to get our finances in order. I was there when a women dealing with domestic violence cried out for help and Bishop Long had the men to gather so that they can help her in move out that day. The church provided her with a place to stay and all of the other resources that she need to have some semblance of normalcy. I can go on and on about the man of God who operated with the heart of God.

My deepest sympathies to the family, friends and the church. Hold fast to all of the good times for they will help you make it through those days when it seems so unfair.

I cannot believe Bishop Long is gone from this earth realm into the heavenly. He was only 63. This is tragic and devastating. I’m shocked and saddened. The nation and indeed the world has lost an apostle and a prophetic voice of this generation.
On behalf of my family, I wish his surviving wife, Lady Elder Vanessa Long, his children, grand-children and his church family (New Birth Missionary Baptist Church), God’s strength and peace over the passing in glory of this apostolic leader and prophet of our time. Our hearts, sympathy, and condolences are with you and New Birth Missionary Baptist Church over this sudden and shocking loss. The nation and indeed the global community have lost one of God’s ambassador and general.
Job 1:21 says, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” May the LORD bless Eddie L. Long; May the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; May the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24). Amen.
In his book, a ‘Call to Conscience,’ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. wrote, “death is not a period that ends the great sentence of life but a comma that punctuates it to more loft significance.”
Eddie L. Long and his works will live forever in our minds and hearts. This life is a vapor and living is fleeting.
    We bemoan today. Adieu.
    In deepest sympathy.
    Rev. Dr. & Mrs. C. K. Ekeke

I was a member of New Birth when we were at the old church on Snapfinger Rd. in Decatur. I joined New Birth in 1996. and during those years things were a little difficult for me I had just moved to GA from CA. Me and my family received so many blessings and remained encouraged Under the leadership of Bishop Eddie

I remember the time when my middle Daughter was in a bad car accident, the car flipped over and the car was flattened , but my daughter was ejected out of the car I believed that the Angels got her out of that car in the nick of time. My daughter was hospitalized for over a week, and when she got out I told her she needed to come to church with me. I remember Bishop Eddie Long had the first 3 or 4 pews/seats roped off, I thought the seats reserved a Choir or Clergy . Bishop Eddie Long said that he had reserved the seats for those I the congregation that had there lives threatened or almost lost there lives that week,

He ask for everyone this applied too, to come and sit in the front in those reserved seats, My daughter was one of them. and she had a front row seat. this was 1997. Bishop prayed over them and she is alive and well today.

This is the Bishop I remember and love. Rest in Peace Bishop and reign with our Lord and Savior Yahshua!!!!

My deepest regrets, but thanksgiving for the Faithfulness of God. I never met Bishop Long personally, but I know that he has been pastoring since the 80’s. My dear friend Shauna, and her entire family (the Simpkins) were members of New Birth almost 30 years ago. (I was in the 6th grade) when they all were killed in a car accident. I’ve known of Bishop Long, his services, and dedication to the Faith, long before he was known by the world. I pray that he rest eternally in the presence of the Creator. And to the family, I pray your strength, and know that God will NEVER fail you. ~ Everything He does, He does it well! Even when our understanding isn’t great enough to comprehend it all. God bless the Long family, in Jesus Christ name, and give them all extraordinary strategy as it relates to what YOU would have be done with the ministry and legacy that a great man has established because of his obedience unto Thee.

My Deepest Condolences to The Long Family & to the church family at New Birth. When I first moved to Atlanta 11yrs ago I first attended New Birth & was blown away by the prosperity & progression of our people that shined throughout the congregation. Bishop gave me such encouragement to go out to do more & be more. I tried to attend the celebration of his life service but was turned away along with a host of others after the DeKalb Police shut down the campus & did not allow anyone else in after 10:30am I’m sure Bishop would have never wanted to see those trying to get to the House of Lord turned away but with the process of things I understand. In any event, May his spirit live on in the church and in all those who knew him.

I met Bishop Eddie L. Long when the church that I was attending, Greater First Baptist Church of East Chicago, IN. My pastor was Tavis Grant, II. We were in the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. I thought Bishop Long was a prolific speaker. He helped so many people. Often times, people tend to negate the good that you have done to focus on something negative that may or may not have happened! I watched the service on the Live Feed from Fox. It was a befitting homegoing.. Thank you family for sharing this moment with the world, and sharing this man of God with the world. May God rest his soul and bless the family and church.

Bishop E. Long may have been misunderstood by a few because he dare to speak those things as though they are….
but God knows the heart of man and He alone has ‘THE FINAL SAY’. After all, without having faith we cannot please God.
The greatest legacy any man or women can leave behind is not wealth or riches or fame and status.. but the FOOT PRINT OF JESUS. The greatest legacy Jesus gave man was salvation. This is not the end of our beloved Bishop E. Long but a new chapter and stage as He journey to be with the Lord.
“For God so loved Bishop Eddie Long, that if Bishop E. Long believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.

I pray for God’s protection over Bishop E. Long’s wife first lady, elder Vanessa long and their children, grand children and family. Also, New birth Baptist ministries members and leaders. May the Holy Spirit continue to comfort and guide you in in your affairs and the affairs of the church. May the vision and purpose of New Birth Baptist Ministries continue to prosper and grow.
Last but not least, Bishop E. Long sure did leave something else behind…….many people have caught on to his catch phase..
    “W A T C H T H I S, W A T C H T H I S , W A T C H T H I S”………

New Birth my prayers are with you and Bishop’s family. The service was beautiful. It was such an honor to have you all share it with us. To his family God bless you. You did such a beautiful job honoring the life and memory of your husband and father. To his son…. my heart really went out to you. Your testimony and forgiveness of those who may have spoken ill words toward Bishop was a testament to the kind of man he was, and the kind of man he raised you to be. God Bless you New Birthday, Bishop raised some wonderful, spirit filled leaders in that house and I know you will continue to make him proud!
