Thermostat or Thermometer?
We have been placed in the earth to not only be salt and light but to walk as living epistles. Jesus Christ sent us into the world, not to live as the world or consume the things of this world but rather to represent the character of God to the world. As the thermostat, we have been sanctified by the word of truth, meaning we can engage society in our day-to-day functions, set the atmosphere and not be affected by the culture. The truth of God’s Word should be our guide and our anchor, preventing us from being “tossed to and fro like the winds and waves”, or vacillate like a thermometer that continuously adjusts itself to the temperature in a room. We are called to set the atmosphere by being the thermostat in every arena that we enter into. Being the thermostat means not allowing the culture to affect us but rather we affect the culture around us.
Declaration: We declare and decree nothing exterior of the core of who we are will be able to affect our thermostat. We are change agents sent by God!
