10 Jul Response To Recent Tragedies in America
I am deeply saddened and troubled by the tragic and violent events that have occurred in our nation over the past five days. As a pastor, husband, father and friend, I stand united and in solidarity with all who have called for an end to the senseless violence and subsequent loss of life that has killed a total of seven people and injured another seven law enforcement officers.
My heart aches for the families of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile whose horrendous deaths were captured on recording devices. My heart also aches for the families of the five fallen officers in Dallas, TX whose lives were capriciously cut short. And, my heart aches for our nation as words of comfort and peace are difficult to grasp in the midst of what appears to be rapidly increasing and unprecedented violence, racial antipathy and injustice.
I truly believe our nation is in a defining moment. It is my hope and prayer that we will choose God, we will choose each other, we will choose unconditional love, and we will choose to work and walk together for the collective good of America and the world.
Today, I ask that you take a moment to seek the Lord and join with New Birth and me as we continue to pray for our nation.
