“So the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands”

   Mission

Children’s Ministry is the avenue used by New Birth Missionary Baptist Church to break down the vision and the word spoken in the house at an age-appropriate level for children ages 4-12.

Our purpose is to instill the character, biblical foundations and principles of Christ into the hearts and minds of all children. Our mission is to equip children at their present age to develop an understanding of Christ that they would begin to develop and build a personal relationship with Christ.

Our goal is to partner with New Birth Missionary Baptist Church parents as we, together, raise children who whole-heartedly serve Christ through obedience, worship, and Godly character. .

Welcome Parents

N.G.C.M is so excited that you have allowed your child(dren) to be a part of this awesome ministry that is making a life lasting impact in the hearts and minds of all children. Together as the teachers, help the parents and the parents help the teachers, we will raise our children as a godly seed, impacting the nation for Christ. On the reverse side of this welcome letter you will see how you as a parent can play a more involved part of serving the ministry, your children and most importantly God.

All Parents Must:

bullet Complete New Members.
bullet Complete or be in the process of completing Tracks I-II, Spiritual Gifts and Serving with Excellence.
bullet Complete a Volunteer Services application with $5.00 application fee for the background check.
bullet Complete Youth Development Volunteer Training Class.
bullet Volunteer once every three months in Children’s Ministry.
bullet Volunteer and chaperone for at least 2 of 5 off-campus and/or on-site events.

At the conclusion of this class you will have an executable wealth-building plan.

Rainbows

The Rainbows program was created to facilitate children’s healing process from a loss of a parent(s) due to death, divorce or incarceration, separation or any form of loss. The program is a 12-week process of group discussions that are conducted from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the age. The groups consist of children that are the same age and experiencing similar types of loss (death, divorce or prison etc). Each group has a Facilitator, not a Counselor, to keep the sessions on track with the Rainbows curriculum.

The sessions include discussion, written lessons and/or games- as age appropriate. Siblings are not allowed in the same group and each child is held responsible for maintaining confidentiality. The children are only allowed to share their own experience with others (Parents or siblings). The 12 weeks are divided into two 6 week sets, with a “Celebrate Me Day” at the end of each set. The “Celebrate Me Day” is a celebration of the progress the children have made. All of the groups come together and parents are invited.

New Members

bullet Next Generation new members orientation is for those children who have made a decision to become new believers, children whose parents have become a part of New Birth from another Church and already believers, or children whose parents have been a member of New Birth 3yrs or less before we started the new ministry process.
bullet

We follow the same curriculum as the adult’s new member orientation except it is on a level that the children are able to understand. We do not teach spiritual gifts, and speaking in tongues.

bullet

Baptismal is taught as a part of being a Christian, according to the Bible in order to be baptized each child should have accepted salvation. If as teachers we feel the child is not ready for baptismal then at that time we will inform the parent, then the parent will take the baptismal material to study further with the child and return for reevaluation.

bullet

Salvation is offered after each child understands what is being taught; it is ministered corporately. If there is a child that does not wish to pray the salvation prayer we do not force them and the parent is informed of the decision. Salvation is taught to the children, because we believe everyone should have the opportunity to hear and then accept. We do not force salvation; it is a heart decision and we are sensitive to each individual.

bullet

After your child completes the New Member class they must fill out a Covenant Agreement (contract), which will assign them to Children’s Church. Covenant Agreements (contracts) can be picked up from the Children’s Ministry sign-in table. Once you’ve completed New Members and the contract you will be eligible to fully participate in the Next Generation Children’s Ministry.

Parent Leaders

bullet

The rubber band is to thank you for all those times you give loving hugs to the kids and to remind you that I’m hugging you back each time you love a child.

bullet

The tissue is to help you dry one more child’s tears-or maybe your own so you can see the tears of others more clearly. Remember that I weep along with you.

bullet

The button is to remind you to “button your lip” when you would be justified in saying something to an unruly child or an angry parent but know it would be wiser to remain silent.

bullet

The toothpick is to help you “pick out” the excellent qualities of your children and yourself. Remember that I’m not done with either of you yet!

bullet

The bandage is to help you heal the hurts of your students-and your own. Remember that I was wounded for you.

bullet

The Hershey’s Kisses candy is because I know you like chocolate, and I like seeing you enjoy life!

bullet

The gold thread is to help us tie our hearts together because my friendship with you is golden!

bullet

The eraser is to remind you that everyone makes mistakes sometimes-and that’s OK. Be ready to forgive your kids and yourself, just as I have forgiven you.

bullet

The Life Savers candy means you are a “lifesaver” in this ministry, and because I want you to think of me as your lifesaver whenever you need to cry out for help. Remember I am always listening.

bullet

The mint is to remind you that you are “sweet” to me!

Love,
Jesus
