Consider, Repent, Give, and Be Blessed
Today’s Scripture Reading: Reading: Haggai 1:1–7
Key Verse: Haggai 1:7
Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!”
You have sown much but bring in little. You eat but you do not have enough. You drink but you are not filled. You clothe yourself but you are not warm. You receive a raise, but somehow it does not even put a dent in the bills. Something is terribly wrong, and the Lord says, “Consider your ways.”
If you have a job and you do not tithe, you are cursed. You will miss the season of God’s favor and get caught in the error of nonrepentance. You cannot move in the favor of God while showing such disrespect for Him!
Only a small percentage of America’s church members tithe regularly. This means that only a small percentage of people in the kingdom understand that tithing is part of being a true worshiper—one who worships God in spirit and in truth.
If all you do is go to church and sing and pray to God without tithing, then all you are doing is giving Him lip service. God is no fool, and You cannot deceive Him. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Luke 12:34 nkjv) in the context of giving to the poor. It applies equally well to this first priority of giving: the tithe.
Today's Prayer:
Heavenly Father, forgive me for not tithing. I have been trying to hold on to money, and it has been slipping through my fingers. I have considered my ways, and I see that I have been robbing You. Forgive me. From now on I determine to give You a minimum of 10 percent of all my increase—and more as I have faith. In Jesus’ name and power I embrace this change, amen.
