The Counseling Ministry

The Counseling Ministry endeavors to meet the needs of God’s people in a comprehensive and effective manner. We offer individual counseling as well as a variety of classes and support groups to aid with the spiritual and emotional development of our congregation and community. Our programs are designed to enhance the entire body by bringing about healing and wholeness in difficult areas

Personal Development Classes

“Discovering Me” – Personal awareness and discovery into areas that hinder you from being all that God wants you to be. Understand how childhood issues prevent emotionally healthy adults. Then move into the “Breakthrough” segment, which provides tools for overcoming unhealthy labels.
  Wednesdays 7:30 pm    Room 108

Life After Divorce– Support for individuals who are undergoing the emotional stages of a divorce. Assistance is provided to help you deal with feelings of rejection, failure, hurt and anger.

Out of the Wilderness – Confidential counsel and discipleship of men and women struggling with homosexuality. Counselors provide caring support to individuals who desire healing and deliverance through the Word of God.

Men Glorifying God –  A male group where men share their strengths, weakness, successes and failures. Men are disciple in spiritual accountability and Godly character. Facilitators help men identity relationships, marriages, and lifestyle patterns.

Women of Triumph– A group for women who seek freedom for the trauma of domestic violence, sexual abuse, or unhealthy relationships. Learn how to transition from just coping and responding to wounds and past hurt to applying the Word of God to become spiritually and emotionally healed.

  Wednesdays 7:00 pm      Room 116

Victims of domestic violence can find emotional strength and self-esteem as they deal with the effects of physical and mental abuse. Obtain information of the protection and assistance available through local resource centers and programs.

Victims of sexual molestation, incest or rape can find support and healing through a group curriculum that provides informative insight into pest trauma. Find freedom from guilt, fear, low self-esteem and other inhibitions.

 

Marriage & Family

Youth Development

“Youth and Parent Connection” – The Counseling Ministry is bridging the gap between parents and teens with the “Youth & Parent Connection.” The program offers guidance for families struggling with the difficult years of adolescence. Group sessions will be held on Mondays, beginning April 21, 2008.
Parents with teens between the ages of 13 and 17 may sign up by calling the

Pre-Marital Training Classes

Couples desiring to be married at New Birth or by a New Birth minister are required to complete a series of premarital classes. Engaged couples are given insight into what a covenant marriage consists of, and what fundamentals are required for a successful union. Prior to each class, a diagnostic assessment is administered through the PREPARE program that helps couples identify personality compatibilities and differences.

Couples may register before and after services in the church vestibule or with the Counseling Ministry preceding each class. A fee of $200 per couple covers all books and materials.

Intimate Partners

Marriage Ministry—Join other couples as they enhance their marital relationship in this eleven-week workshop. Sessions are held twice yearly to ensure healthy marriages within the church body. Spouses come to know their partners in a more intimate capacity, and learn the true meaning of covenant and unity. The registration fee for the workshop will be $75 per couple.

Touch and Agree
An ongoing class that deals with the tough issues couples face in marriage. Learn methods to resolve conflicts, and identify unhealthy patterns that impede successful relationships. Couples are taught basic skills in order to build a Christ-centered marriage.

Relationship Clinic for Singles

Getting To Know You

For singles that desire to know more about the fundamentals of a healthy relationship and what to look for in a mate before considering marriage. Learn the misconceptions of what love and marriage are form a Christian perspective and how to identify warning signs that should not be ignored.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Support
 

Victorious Living

A drug and alcohol accountability group where men and women gain spiritual support for addiction through a 12-step Christ-centered Program. Other resource information is provided through group facilitators.

Family Violence Intervention Program
 

Our Family Violence Intervention Program is a certified program for offenders who are referred through the court system for domestic violence or for anger management. The program is also open for men and women on an ongoing, volunteer basis. Initial and ongoing fees are charged for participation.

Grief Recovery
 

“Grief Support" 

A caring support group helping bereaved family members through the pain and loss of a loved one.
